Lauderdale by the Sea: Sunday

While at Lauderdale by the Sea...

Dear Family, Friends, And anyone else bothering to learn about my day,

I woke up at 10:30 this morning and took a shower. The condo has never-ending warm water so it was lovely, I could have stood in their for hours. However, I don't think Kate would have been too thrilled about that if I had. So I tried not to take too long, but I think we both took longer than we normally would.
After we were done we had breakfast/brunch. They made a really yummy breakfast. I mean it wasn't extravagant or anything. Just french toast with bacon. But naturally I just have a bagel with cream cheese and fruit so... yeah it was really yummy. We decided to go outside and walk to town. :)
Now let me tell ya. Yesterday, the minute we arrived in Lauderdale, it started down pouring. And in all honesty, I put complete blame on my father. Oh course, before we left he had to say, "It rains almost everyday in Florida" and me, not believing him said, "No it doesn't, it's SUNNY in Florida!" he gave me the 'okay, whatever you say. Just wait and see face.' so clearly, this is all his fault. And he knows it. It seems like whenever I go places it rains on the first day we get there. Last time in Chicago/ Wisconsin it did the same thing.
When we got downtown is was warm and sunny, unlike yesterday. It was BEAUTIFUL, really. We walked around. Went into over-priced gift shops, went into normal priced shops where I still didn't buy anything (well I bought 6 postcards for a 1.00) I was trying to ration my money to buy stuff after we had already seen everything. Well... we ran into this little shop place called 'Diamonds and Doggies'
Yeah just like it sounds. They had diamonds and really cute puppies. They were mostly toy dogs but man they were adorable. Look at this little guy here. A baby dachshund, I mean, isn't she just adorable? Katelyn keeps trying to convince me to buy her as a friend for Molly. I told her my parents would kill me; also there is the slight issue of the 599$ I would have to come up with to buy her. However, I did find a place to buy Molly a present cause they sold doggie treats and accessories. I hope my puppy misses me as much as I missed her when I was in this store.
We had to, sadly, leave the puppies in the shop however. And once we walk down the street (passed a place with a cute guy sittin' in the window) and realized that there was nothing at the end of the street. We walked back to the frozen yogurt shop where the cute guy had been (he left) but we then realized the guy working there was pretty good lookin' too. It was a self-serve frozen yogurt shop (kinda like the one in the mall. It looked actually quite fancy in there (I'll take a picture inside of it tomorrow when we go there). I got one that was cookies and cream yogurt with Oreo cookies, strawberries, and Reese's on top. It cost me like 3$ somethin'. I dunno. Kate and I both gave tips to the cute cashier. Now that I think about it, since the yogurt place was self serve, I don't know what we were tipping him for. Just the fact that he was attractive I guess. Either way it was delicious.
Yeah we decided we're going back tomorrow. The yogurt was yummy and so was the worker. With our luck, the guy won't be there and instead we'll get some annoying chick there.
We left and sat on some benches in the shade to eat it. Yeah. Like I've said a million times: It was yummy.
At that point we decided to figure out how much it cost to go on the pier. I think it's kinda funny to make people pay to walk on a pier. However, we paid the 2.00$ to do it anyway. I guess it probably cost money because people fish off it... or maybe they just like making a quick buck off of tourist like us. I'd go with the later of the two.

So, the pier, let me tell you. It was warm, windy, and had a great view. Above, is the view of the beach. There was a great sum of people chillin' on this lovely day. I ended up being very jealous of their beach umbrellas. They're so bright and colorful, kinda wish i had one, but I don't go to a beach often enough to waste the money on one. Wish I did though. Anyway, doesn't this view just make you feel warm. I have a feeling I'm gonna need to blow this up big for the winter months next year.
I've provided a few more picture of the beach because I just find it really nice to look at. It's an interesting place to people watch that's for sure. Until you're taking a picture of the ocean and a group of men in the ocean ask if you paid your money to enjoy the gun show (meaning their 'muscles') then you awkwardly turn away cause you didn't even notice they were there when you were taking the picture.
I decided I should probably show ya'll where we are staying. That place their, circled in red, way off in the distance. Yeah, that's Costa del Sol. The place where our condo is. It looks real far away from the pier, but really it's just 2 blocks away from it. Of course we're further out into the ocean as well. It's a nice place really. The pool is great, same temperature and bath water.
We contined walking down the pier and that's when we saw them. They were real close up and huge. I must not get out much cause I was fascinated. Dudddeee. PELICANS.
These birds are magnificent. I mean they're generally huge. Bigger than any of out birds in Michigan. It's really and interesting sight when they decide to take off in flight. Every time I see it I worry a little that their wings won't be able to support their bodies. It seems like a great surprise every time they actually take off. Like...it shouldn't be possible. They seem so lazy and then they just...do something.
It's different to me. I guess I never really thought about how much boundaries separate us all. You know what I mean. There are large differences between all these places I've seen recently. One minute you're in Michigan and you have pine trees and squirrels then you're in Florida with palm trees and geckos. The world is such a strange place. How can location make such a difference? Why is it that it's sunny and warm here and bipolarly hot and cold their? Why did these creatures just decide to take up there residency in these areas? I mean, there is literally something different in each state. Maybe that's the point. So that you never run out of places and things to see. Or maybe it's so that you can see all the places and things but get captured completely by the places you fall in love with. I'll tell you Florida is great and all, it's warm and wonderful. However it's not that place. I suppose I've found a new plus side to Michigan (it doesn't have many on my list so it'll take whatever I give it); the weather variation is a nice thing. Maybe not as extreme of variation as Michigans' but the fact that it has it works. I mean, if it was hot like this year round, I'd go bonkers. Now Kentucky on the other hand. We drove through that place and it was gorgeous. I don't know any reason I'd live in Kentucky but it was nice there.
Any ways, sorry about that little tangent. When we were finished with the pier we had offically decided to go swimming. IN THE OCEAN! Yeah, I'd never been in the ocean before. I was kinda freaked out I would get stung by a jellyfish in all honesty (thanks mom) not to mention that in Kate's past her and her mom had gotten stung by them. Some kids on the beach caught on in a net. I honestly thought we were in the middle of a crime scene and some little kids just found the discarded brain in the water. Needless to say, I watch too much television and my imagination gets the best of me sometimes. However, we went swimming and it was lovely. You know how our lakes are all like....FREEZING no matter what? Yeah forget that, the ocean is the perfect temperature. Minus that fact that it was salty. SALTY. I mean if I has a sore throat I could just go gargle the ocean. It was disgusting at first. But once you get used to it, you realize that you're in THE OCEAN and it's great.
Really Great.
After sunbathing. Where yes, I do think I got sunburned doing such. I regret nothing (dare I insert eh term YOLO?) we went and swam in the pool and hot tub. Now, at first I thought it was a little counter productinve having a pool right next to the ocean, but it's actually really nice. This is our pool, with the lovely ocean just kinda hangin' out behind it.
Soon we got tired because you all know when youi're swimming you feel like you could do it forever but once you take a short break you realize you're super tired and such. Well then we took showers and wen out and read poolside. I have 40 pages until I finish Animal Farm. I took these pictures of myself whilst out there. Although horrible looking because I didn't bother trying to look nice, I figured you'd get mad if I didn't show myself at least once. So yea... there I am.
After a pretty good spaghetti dinner, Kate and I ventured down town again. We checked out one final store we hadn't been to yet. Called 'Wings'. That's where I finally bought a cute green and gray stipped  cropped shirt that says SMILE on it with Lauderdale by the sea under it. It's really cute. I also bought a necklace. Grand total of 23.24. Not too bad really.
And thus completed our day. Because after that we came back and have been lazy computer bums. I must say. Pretty good spring break so far people. Here are two more pictures I liked. The first is the Costa del Sol sign when it ISN'T rianing because of the bad weather my dad cursed upon us and the other is of a palm tree plastered with coconuts.

I love you guys, oh so much.
Wish you were here. And I miss you.
However, you best be having a good time all of you.

Love,
Baylee

P.S. Mother, if you're reading this and haven't read the Hunger Games yet. I will cry myself to sleep.
Love ya.
